Everything About your pregnancy

I am pregnant or planning to get pregnant

Are you pregnant or do you want to get pregnant? Start taking folic acid. You should preferably start taking folic acid four weeks before becoming pregnant. Taking folic acid reduces the chance of the development of birth defects, such as spina bifida. The folic acid intake continues until the 10th week of the pregnancy.

To increase the chance of a healthy pregnancy, it is important to stop smoking, drinking and using drugs. This also applies to the partner. These substances can result in reduced fertility and may delay a pregnancy. These substances can also increase the chance of a miscarriage and can affect the development of the baby during pregnancy.

You can find more tips and information on how to get pregnant in a healthy way on the following websites: www.zwangerwijzer.nl and deverloskundige.nl.

Do you want to get pregnant?

If you have a menstrual cycle of 28 days (4 weeks), ovulation will occur approximately 14 days after the first day of your period. An egg can stay alive for approximately 12 hours. Sperm can stay alive for 2 – 3 days. If you regularly have sex with your partner around ovulation – every other day – the chances of pregnancy are high.
