everything about giving birth
The gynecologist
The midwife checks the condition of both mother and baby during delivery. If there are signs that a risk may arise during delivery, the midwife will hand over the care of the birth to the gynaecologist. Through further research, usually a heart recording (CTG) of the baby, the gynecologist can better assess whether there is a risk for the birth.
Examples of when care is transferred to the gynaecologist during birth are:
- Pain-management request from the woman
- Meconium in amniotic fluid
- The pushing takes a longer time
