Home birth

For a home birth, it is important that you have the following items at home:

  • Blocks or empty crates so that the top of your mattress is elevated at around 80 centimeters (30 inches). (This is necessary for a good working position for midwives and maternity nurse)
  • You have a maternity package at home (can be requested through your health insurer)
  • 2 buckets
  • 2 garbage bags
  • Roll of toilet paper or kitchen roll
  • 10 cotton hydrophilic diapers
  • 2 hats for the baby and 1 set of clothes
  • 2 aluminum hot water bottles for the baby, including covers
  • 1 thermometer (digital)
  • In case of a bath delivery, a bed near the delivery pool
