Don't forget anything important in your delivery: what to have in the house

The maternity package

Below is an overview of the supplies needed in the delivery bag and for a desired home birth. It is also desirable to have a maternity package at home with a hospital birth. A large part of the maternity package can be used in the first week after giving birth. It includes maternity pads, absorbent mats, alcohol, gloves and gauzes. The maternity package can be purchased through most health insurance companies. Depending on your insurance, you will be (partially) reimbursed.

Provide a raised bed in childbirth

In addition to the maternity package, we would like to ask that the bed be raised to 70-90 centimeters. This will help us and also the maternity nurse maintain a healthy back for years to come. You can raise the bed by using bobbins (available at the home care store), an extra mattress or beer crates, for example. In addition, don't forget to purchase at least 2 metal jugs and 2 thermometers (one for yourself and one for the baby).

The delivery bag

The delivery bag is an important part of preparing for childbirth. It is a bag in which you collect all the supplies you need during labor and in the first days after your baby is born.

It is important to have the delivery bag ready on time so that you can leave quickly for the hospital or birth site in case of an emergency. Also, discuss with your partner or someone else present at the birth where the delivery bag is and what it contains.
